That's a fantastic image Olorotitan! Love the images that bring prehistoric world to life. Reminds me of Jurrassic World...the more we look into it the more the popular idea of prehistoric life (especially what dinosaurs looked like) is getting overturned by more scientifically accurate information! Glad there are some sources of accessible information for separating myth from reality. Check out some paleo myths busted here: dinologue.com/category/paleo-m…

Великолепно!
А есть основания полагать наличие у мозазавров такого хвостового плавника?

В 2010 описан отличнейшей сохранности скелет платекарпуса, с отпечатками чешуи и внутренностями. [link]

Tell me, is there any basis for that mottled coloring? Because I've seen it on other reconstructions of aquatic reptiles.

To my knowledge there is no direct evidence for coloring. One specimen of Platecarpus have some dark stripes but most probably it's not a live color pattern.

Interesting. I guess it's just one of those paleontological "memes" that gets passed around.

It's not a specific algae. It's some kind of Phaeophyceae like Laminaria.

Now THAT is the most realistic mosasaur I have ever seen!! Especially one that showcases the ''tail fluke'' discovery. The accuracy and colouration just seal the deal :)

This painting is like a punch in the stomach, it's so overpoweringly real.

Not to sound sycophantic, but every post of yours is a real pleasure, keep up the good work :) .

Perhaps more an impaling bite to the leg, and a death roll, as opposed to a punch in the stomach....

A death roll to the stomach.

See that? Compromise.
